Ann Desroches

Ann (Carey) Desroches, 70, gained her angel wings on December 23, 2024 with her loving family beside her. She was born in Springfield, MA on June 5, 1954 to the late James P. Carey and Mary Agatha (O’Connell) Carey. Ann grew up in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School in 1972. She later attended Holyoke Community College. Ann married the love of her life, Gary M. Desroches on November 9, 1974 and they built their life together in Chicopee, MA. Besides her husband Gary, she leaves behind her three beloved daughters, Melanie (Desroches) Patterson and her husband Daniel of Hampden, Tara (Desroches) Celani and her husband Justin of Harwich, and Kelli Desroches of Chicopee, and her significant other Justin Billings; her precious six grandchildren, Mckenna, Madeline & Ainsley Patterson, Jacob and Caitlyn Celani and Molly Rajpold; two sisters, Rosemary Carey of South Hadley, and Laura Barrick and her husband Mike of Granby; three brothers, Patrick Carey and his wife Cindy of Albuquerque, NM, Christopher Carey and his wife Tami of Granby, CT, Dan Carey and his wife Ann of Granby, CT; and her sister-in-law, Debra Perrault of Agawam. Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and a friend to all whose lives she touched. She worked many years as an administrative assistant and payroll specialist. Ann received a life changing double lung transplant in 2016. She was a beautiful soul with radiant emerald green eyes, she had a fighting spirit and defeated all odds living life to its fullest. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, including the numerous transplant patients she inspired and supported following her own life saving surgery. She loved animals, being outdoors and soaking up the sunshine while reading a book. In earlier years she loved traveling with her husband to Aruba (her favorite island). She also enjoyed her summer vacations to Cape Cod with her family. On November 9th, Ann and her husband Gary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary where they renewed their wedding vows and celebrated the momentous occasion with their immediate family. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins, she will be missed deeply by her standard poodle Rudy, who always laid by her side even in her final hours. Calling hours for Ann will be held from 3-6PM on Sunday, December 29th, at Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee. On Monday, December 30th, at 11AM, family and friends are invited to meet directly in Ste. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St, Chicopee, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Memorial contributions may be made to Donate Life America, 5516 Falmouth Street, Suite 302, Richmond, VA 23230.
