Genevieve M. Polak

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Genevieve (Noga) Polak, who peacefully departed this world on Friday, September 27, 2024. She lived a remarkable life of 101 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. Born on April 15, 1923, Genevieve was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her independence, strength and practicality were a source of inspiration for all who knew her. She was deeply committed to her Catholic faith and participated in the life of the Church. She had a strong work ethic and worked as treasurer and office manager at Ames Plating for 30 years. Traveling was a highlight of her life. She made two pilgrimages to Europe, traveling through Portugal and Czechoslovakia, and enjoyed tours to Alaska and Aruba. Throughout her life, Genevieve touched the lives of many through her selflessness and compassion. She dedicated her time and effort to several charitable organizations and volunteered her services to the Chicopee Boys Club, Volunteer Draft Board and Springfield Hospital. Genevieve was a true Massachusetts fan, following the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins every week. Family gatherings often included friendly sports banter and speculation with her grandson, Jack. Genevieve is survived by her beloved family: children, Christine Polak, and John Polak and partner, Gael Humphrey; two grandchildren, Jack Polak and Grace Polak; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Kania; parents John and Caroline Noga; husband Albin Polak; brothers Raymond Noga and Edwin Noga, and sister, Esther Partyka. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve on Friday, October 11th at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica, 566 Front St. Chicopee. Please meet at the Basilica. Burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery will be held privately for family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104, as it was close to her heart because of their compassionate and excellent care of her granddaughter, Grace. May Genevieve’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may she find solace in the arms of her Lord. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will live on through the love and kindness she shared with the world.
