Helen V. Ciejek

Helen V. (Niemiec) Ciejek passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at her side. Born in Thompsonville, CT, daughter of the late John and Mary (Klocek) Niemiec, she was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Basilica in Chicopee, and Holy Redeemer Church in Palm City, FL. A graduate of Ludlow High School, Helen, along with her husband and sons, was proud of their family business, Town and Country Liquors. She enjoyed cooking a spread for the staff at Christmas time, and was known to create some beautiful holiday gift baskets. Helen loved to cook and bake, creating outstanding delicacies for all. She enjoyed reading cookbooks and watching cooking shows, always looking for new and different recipes to try. Other favorite shows were the court dramas of Judge Judy and Hot Bench. When she was not cooking, she was always ready to go out for a nice meal at a local restaurant. Helen loved to travel with her husband, and among other places, went to Poland, Russia, Yugoslavia, Hawaii, Alaska, and the California wine country. She especially enjoyed their trip to China, where they walked the Great Wall. In later years, she looked forward to day trips to Broadway, Goodspeed Opera House, and various local destinations. A good golfer, Helen also followed tennis matches and baseball games, and was an avid Red Sox fan. Known for her generous spirit and classic fashion savvy, Helen enjoyed watching her grandchildren when they were young and developing into adulthood. Always proud of their accomplishments, she looked forward to enjoying the next generation, her great-grandchildren. Helen spent her later years living on Hutchinson Island in Florida, enjoying the warm weather and the beautiful ocean view. She followed her own philosophy of love much, live well, hang around young people, and be happy. Helen was predeceased in 1995 by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Stanley J. Ciejek, whom she lovingly cared for during his final battle with Parkinson’s Disease; and also predeceased by her son, Stanley J. Ciejek, Jr., and his wife, Pamela (Michaels) Ciejek, and by her sister, Adele Duquette. She is survived by her loving son, Daniel S. Ciejek and wife Linda of Castle Rock, CO; five cherished grandchildren, Alex Ciejek and wife Lisa of Lee, Emily Vidmar and husband Derek of CO, Adam Ciejek and partner Mark Hofmann of FL, Katherine Shea and husband Steve of CO, and Jonathan Ciejek of Chesterfield; six treasured great-grandchildren, Daniel Ciejek, August Vidmar, Hudson Vidmar, Hanne Ciejek, and Elliot and Piper Shea; several nieces and nephews; and longtime devoted family friend, Michael V. Korzeniowski of Chicopee. Funeral services for Helen will be held Tuesday, September 5th, from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Committal service and burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4-7PM, and Tuesday morning 8:30-9:45AM.
