Stanley Adam Pinkos

Stanley Adam Pinkos, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center, with loving family at his side. Born on December 24, 1926, son of the late Stanley J. and Julia A. (Salwach) Pinkos, he was raised and educated in Chicopee. He has resided in West Springfield since 1956 where he constructed his forever brick home using a How To book that he checked out of the library and was a lifelong Mr. Fixit for family members and friends. A US Army veteran of WWII, Stanley served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign as a cook in the Philippines, receiving several medals for his service. After separation, Stanley became an apprentice, followed by a forty-one year career in the sheet metal industry. He was a proud seventy-five year member of Local Union #63. As a young man, he attended polka dances every night of the week except Mondays. He met his wife at a polka dance and they continued dancing on a weekly basis until they were in their eighties. After he retired he loved golfing and played several times a week throughout Western MA. He scored his only hole-in-one at a course on Cape Cod while playing with his wife. He always enjoyed a refreshing beer with work colleagues, polka friends, golf buddies and his friends at The Harp. He had a passion for taking home movies to chronicle the highlights of his children’s lives and later his domestic and international travels with his wife. Stanley was predeceased in 2018 by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Frances B. (Chicklowski) Pinkos, whom he married on September 22, 1951 in the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Springfield. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Starr J. Pinkos of Montague Center and partner Joseph J. Nowicki of Leverett, Laura L. Rivers and husband Roland, Jr. of Chicopee, and Lynn A Roberts and husband Donny of Hilton Head, SC; five cherished grandchildren, Kaycee L. Roberts, Erica R. Stepanishen and husband Mark, Stefanie M. Roberts and fiance Steve Cronin, Adam R. Rivers and wife Nicole, and Kristin M. Rivers; and treasured great-grandson Lukas R. Stepanishen. He was predeceased by his brother, Teddy Pinkos, and sisters, Genowefa Pinkos, Nellie Barbacki and Jennie Liada. Funeral services for Stanley will be held Tuesday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:45AM.
