Alfred A.“Bucky” Furman, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, with his loving niece near his side. Born December 28, 1927, son of the late John and Apolonia (Miga) Furman, he resided in Springfield for most of his life. Alfred was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and retired after many years of service from Moore Drop Forge Manufacturing. He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr, and avidly enjoyed golfing. Alfred is survived by his loving nieces, Roberta “Bobbie” Bator of Springfield, Elizabeth “Betty” Volpe and husband Christopher of Commack, NY, and Jo-Ann Trangucci and husband Daniel of New Rochelle, NY; several great nieces and nephews; and lifelong best friend, and golf partner, Zeke Galica of West Springfield. He was predeceased by his siblings, Arthur Furman, Sophie Popielarz, Fredaryka Popielarz, and Helen Bator. Funeral services for Alfred will be held Monday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 8:30-9:45AM.
