Arthur E. Lang, Jr, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Born December 11, 1940, son of the late Arthur E. and Johanna (Fitzgerald) Lang, Sr., he lived his early years in Springfield and the past thirty two years in Chicopee. An award winning master carver, Arthur was owner of “Work of Art” woodworking shop in Ludlow for the past thirty years. He was President of the Pioneer Valley Carving Club, a member of the Springfield Guild of Craftsmen and a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr. Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of twenty nine years, Dorothy (Jez) Lang; a daughter, Ruth Everett, of Springfield; a brother, Howard “Bud” Lang and his wife Eleanor “Nan”, of Ludlow; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted canine friend, Judy. He was predeceased by a son, Arthur E. Lang, III. A funeral home service will be held Saturday at 11AM at Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. A calling hour from 10-11AM will precede the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
