Earl D. Fitzek

May 14, 1931 - March 19, 2021

Earl D. Fitzek, 89, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center. Born May 14, 1931, son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Bresaw) Fitzek, he was a long-time resident of Chicopee, most recently at the Arbors. Earl was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School and a parishioner of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he served as corporal with the 30th Tank Co. until his separation. Earl worked for various manufacturing companies, retiring in 1986 from American Bosch. An active bowler and golfer, he enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and always looked forward to vacations in Maine with family and friends. He was well known for his handsome Christmas decorations and gifts. Earl is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Cecilia M. (Sroka) Fitzek; his loving son Steve and daughter-in-law Ann; and five caring nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Stanley and wife Leona. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service with military honors on Wednesday at 11AM in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., Chicopee. There are no calling hours.
