Edward J. Waryasz, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, with his loving family by his side. Born June 11, 1918, son of the late Joseph and Antonina (Skokwisz) Waryasz, he was a lifelong Chicopee resident. A US Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 444th Signal Battalion and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with a Bronze Service Star. Edward was a retired inspector for the former Moore Drop Forge Co. and a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr. In his younger days, he was a member of the Polish Falcons Drum Corps. An avid New York Yankees fan, Edward enjoyed supporting his grandsons in all their athletic activities. Edward was predeceased in 2004 by his beloved wife, Ann M. (Watras) Waryasz, and is survived by his loving son, Richard E. Waryasz and his wife Josephine of Longmeadow; his cherished grandsons, Attorney Michael Waryasz and his wife Meghan of Lynnfield, MA and Dr. Gregory Waryasz and his wife Charlene of Providence, RI; niece, Susan Musiak and her husband Ronald of Westfield, and their son, Matthew Musiak and his wife Elena of Easthampton; cousin, Helen Wachala of Chicopee; and many other extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernice Szymczyk. Edward’s family would like to thank the staff of the Soldiers’ Home for the excellent care and attention given to him during his stay. Funeral services will be held Saturday from the Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 9-10:30AM.
