Esther J. (Olbrych) Skiba, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Mt. Saint Vincent Nursing Home, with her loving family at her side. Born November 21, 1930, daughter of the late Vincent and Wanda (Rozek) Olbrych, she was raised and educated in Chicopee, and has resided in West Springfield for over sixty years. A lifelong communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr, Esther was a talented seamstress. She and her husband Raymond enjoyed traveling together, and Esther also looked forward to playing bingo and casino visits. Esther was predeceased in 2014 by her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, Raymond A. Skiba, and is survived by her loving son, Mark A. Skiba and wife Sandra of Chicopee; her cherished granddaughters, Allison M. Kopie and husband James of West Springfield and Melissa A. Skiba of West Springfield; cherished great grandchildren, Rilee and Jackson; brother, Frank Olbrych of Chicopee; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Louise Lewicki, and brothers, Albert and Stanley Olbrych. Per Esther’s request, funeral services and burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery will be held privately. There are no calling hours.
