Peter J. Szczebak, 91, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born March 24, 1929 in Ludlow, he was the son of the late Stanley and Caroline (Puzio) Szczebak, who came here from Poland. Peter served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Peter is survived by his two sons, Peter Szczebak of Eliot, ME, and Gary Szczebak and wife Denise of Feeding Hills. You couldn’t have asked for more loving sons, who did everything they could to support their parents. Peter was blessed with two granddaughters, Ashley DeLauro and Amber Szczebak, both of Westerly RI, who adored him and are his biggest fans. He would brag about them to everyone he met. He was excited for his granddaughter, Ashley and her husband Nick, to welcome his first great-grandson in the fall. While he won’t be here physically to meet him, we know that he will be keeping a watchful eye on him from heaven. A special thank you to the Heritage Hall South team, including Monica and Nancy, who took great care of Peter these past few months, The doctors and staff at Baystate Medical Center have been wonderful during his many visits there in the past year. Special thank you to Peter’s niece, Jackie Beauvais and her husband Greg, for all of their support. The family is comforted to know that Peter is with his best friend and love of his life, his beloved wife, Theresa. He has missed her every day since she passed August 23, 2019. She is probably yelling at him for taking so long to get to heaven. No services will be held at this time. We ask that instead, you raise your glass to toast Grandpa in celebration of his life.
