Russell E. Jennison, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 at home with his loving wife by his side. Born in West Springfield on March 30, 1936, son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Rockwood) Jennison, he lived in Chicopee for the past 18 years. Russell was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Class of 1955, co-captain of its hockey team and was class musician. He worked for most of his life in the automotive business for Jones Volkswagen, Applied Power, Nation Auto USA, Thrifty Auto, Metro Jeep, and Bertera Subaru. Russell was member of the West Springfield Coliseum Rink Rats Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Chicopee ELKS Lodge 1849, a passionate boater and enjoyed golfing and hockey. Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Carol T. (Rivest) Jennison; three loving grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and his wife Trinity, and Kimberly Jennison; two cherished great grandchildren, Haile and Bradyn; two sisters, Dorothy Heatherley and Donna Jennison; his mother-in-law, Vi Rivest; his brother-in-law, David Rivest; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Russell E. Jennison, Jr. and a sister, Gertrude Bailey. The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Bombardier and his staff, Suzanne and Natalia of Hospice Life Care, wonderful neighbors and friends for the care, comfort and support given to Russell. Calling hours for Russell will be held Saturday from 9-10:30 at the Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
