Stacia C. (Slowik) Stadnicki, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, the day after her 100th birthday. Born September 9, 1921 in Chicopee, daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Polak) Slowik, she was a resident of Chicopee until she was ninety-five. Stacia was predeceased in 2009 by her beloved husband, Max J. Stadnicki. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Linda Siedel (Karl) and Elaine Minkos (Michael); six grandchildren, Michael Siedel (Lisa), Lisa Badgley (Jon), Joseph Minkos (Michelle), Jeffrey Minkos (Marlena), Heather Oppewall (Jamie), and Maria Christoforo (Jack); and twelve great grandchildren, Joshua, Jake, Adam, Kaitlin, Tim, Grace, Ania, Max, Adam, Abigail, Lola and Eli. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Nowak; her Godchild, Sandra Isabelle (David); two nephews, David Nowak (Amy) and Darryl Nowak; as well as a great nephew and three great nieces. Also, Hank Boratis, who was like a son. Stacia was predeceased by her sister, Stella Krupa, and brothers-in-law, Stephen Krupa and Stanley Nowak. A communicant of St. Stanislaus Basilica, Stacia and Max were married in 1946 after he returned from serving in the US Army in WWII. The family owned and operated Stadnicki’s Bakery in Chicopee, which was founded by her father-in-law in 1905. Stacia developed a love for fashion when she was young and became a skilled seamstress, sewing not just all her own clothes, but those of her two daughters and other family members. Many times, she would be at her sewing machine after midnight crafting First Communion or bridesmaid dresses. In later years, she also made curtains and draperies for her daughters’ and grandchildrens’ homes. In addition to sewing, she loved to knit and crochet, watch Mass on EWTN, and go to lunch or dinner, especially at the Lido restaurant. During her sixty-three years of marriage, she and Max spent many years at Point O’ Woods beach with their family and always traveled to New York City with friends, Hank and Adella Boratis, for Labor Day weekend. She continued to enjoy spending time at Point O’ Woods, as recently as this past summer. Her family would like to thank the entire staff at Aaron Manor for their friendship and care. Funeral services for Stacia will be held Friday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 9-10:15AM. Masks are recommended for the funeral home and church.
