Walter Misiaszek, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Holyoke Medical Center, with loving family at his side. Born in Poland on June 14, 1933, son of the late Antoni and Maria (Sajor) Misiaszek, Walter was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke for most of his life. He worked as a tailor in his earlier years in Poland, and locally retired from Smith & Wesson Mfg. after many years of service. Family was the center of Walter’s life, and he was a beloved dziadziu to his grandchildren and now the “light of his life”, his greatgrandson, Carter Michael. Walter was predeceased in 2011 by his beloved wife, Danuta (Orszulak) Misiaszek, and in 1996 by his treasured son, Richard Misiaszek. He is survived by his loving children, Bogdan Misiaszek and fiancee Julie Sherman, of Westfield, and Jolanta Starsiak and husband Ryszard, of Chicopee; three cherished grandchildren, Richard Starsiak, Krystyna Starsiak and fiance Patrick Brown, and Gabriela Starsiak and fiance Brandon Hill, along with their son Carter Michael; brother, Rudek Misiaszek of Poland; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Walter will be held Saturday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours are Saturday from 8:30-9:45AM.
