Jean J. Sullivan

Jean J. (Bazan) Sullivan, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Julia (Minkalis) Bazan and a lifelong resident of the Chicopee area. Jean was a graduate of Chicopee High School and a devoted parishioner of St. Anne’s Church. She was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great joy and pride in her family. Her home was always a place of warmth, love, and welcome. Jean enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—bowling, playing bingo, and cheering on her favorite Boston teams, especially the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. She had a spirited personality, a love for spending time with family and friends, and always looked forward to her trips to the casino, with Mohegan Sun being a favorite destination. She also found great companionship and joy in her beloved dogs, Pepper and Reilly. Jean leaves her devoted husband of seventy years, James B. Sullivan, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. She is also survived by her loving children, Kim A. Murphy and her husband David of South Hadley, Kevin J. Sullivan of Chicopee, and Keith M. Sullivan and his wife Christine of Granby. Jean was a proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Ryan Sullivan and his wife Hilary; Stefanie Munsell and her husband Adam, Shannon Chagnon and her husband Kyle; Liam Murphy; Erin Murphy; Kera Murphy; Brett Sullivan; Tyler Sullivan; and Nolan Sullivan. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren: Jake, Will, Lily, Brandon, Olivia, Jack, Luke, and Emma. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Bazan and Michael Bazan. She is also survived by her dear friend, Betty Patrie of Chicopee, whose friendship meant so much to her over the years, and she fondly remembered Betty’s late husband, Dave. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 1, at Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front Street, Chicopee. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
