Ruth M. Bourdeau

It is with great sadness that we announce that Ruth (Morin) Bourdeau, 69, longtime resident of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 24, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Ruth was born on April 27, 1957, in Holyoke, a loving daughter of Walter L. and Norma E. (Graves) Morin. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and a graduate of Chicopee High School. Ruth was a dedicated employee with a long career as an office administrator at the Hartford Insurance Company. Later, Ruth was employed as a greeter at the front desk at Holyoke Medical Center. Ruth enjoyed her work and strived to put people at ease with her gentle smile and kindness. Ruth was an active participant and devoted member of the Pioneer Valley Baptist Chapel in Chicopee. She faithfully attended Bible study programs and made Jesus an important part of her life. Ruth quietly lived her faith and led by example. In addition to church activities, Ruth loved traveling with her family and friends locally or far away. Her trips included cruising, vacationing in Hawaii, Cape Cod, and Martha’s Vineyard. In addition to travel, Ruth loved going out to dine. Her favorite spot was at the Frontera Grill in Chicopee. With unwavering love, Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother, deeply cherishing family. Forever in our hearts, Ruth will be remembered by her loving children, Shannon L. Gomes and her husband, Elias of Chicopee, Michelle C. Runshaw and her husband, David of Belchertown, Christopher Bourdeau and his wife, Alicia of Ludlow, and Gerald “Sean” Bourdeau. She will be missed by Shannon’s brother, Daniel Haska and his wife, Becca of Southampton, who embraced her lovingly including her in family gatherings, and by her brother Fred Morin of Maine. Missed by cherished grandchildren include Kaylee Reed, Kyle and Tyler Gomes, Sara, Allyssa, Samantha, Anthony and Noelle, and three great grandchildren. In addition, Ruth will be lovingly remembered by Thomas D. Haska of Granby, Linda Haska Madeka and her husband, Haresh of New Jersey. She will also be missed by Gerald Bourdeau, Debbie and Randy Malek along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her brother Walter “Moe” Morin and sister, Linda Brunelle. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life on Monday, August 3rd, between 5-7 PM at Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front Street, Chicopee. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 4th with family and friends meeting at 10 AM at Pioneer Valley Baptist Chapel, 56 Perkins Street, Chicopee. Committal prayers and burial will immediately follow at St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee.
